This is a film about climate change. News media tends to paint humanity like we’re the hot girl in a horror movie – doomed, that it’s only a matter of time until the monster in the dark kills us. But if we find a hammer - pass legislation, hold industries accountable, and otherwise don’t buy into the doom-and-gloom narrative – maybe, we’re all gonna live.

Process

I love film because of how much overlap there is with human-centered design — how do you get viewers to feel the way you want based on innate principles of human behavior? Because I had only a few days to film and zero budget, planning was key to make this happen. I storyboarded every shot, testing blocking as I went.

I created the practical effects on zero budget using corn syrup and food coloring to create fake blood, along with dish soap and coffee grounds to create a slimed-up monster hand.
